FRANKLINTON @ RIVER & RICH

MAKERS SOCIAL
DIY CRAFT & COCKTAIL BAR

Makers Social, located at Franklinton’s brand new River & Rich development, is an interactive bar experience where locals can choose from dozens of awesome DIY crafting projects while enjoying themed cocktails like “Moscow Tools” and, you guessed it, “Screwdrivers”.

LOCALLY OWNED

(built from the ground up)

In 2014, Megan Pando moved to Columbus to open Studio 614, a joyful Bob Ross-inspired “paint n’ sip” art studio supported by the wonderful community of SoHud (university district) just north of downtown Columbus. Studio 614 still stands today as a small private event space and BYOB art studio offering canvas painting classes and DIY workshops.

In 2019, Megan signed the lease to open this “sister studio”, Makers Social here in Franklinton. With a gratefulness for the social community which art school at the University of Cincinnati brought her, she wanted to give the gift of “art school” to Columbus, bringing a similar environment with workbench tables, more than 30 DIY projects available, and a full bar.

“Studying fine arts is a totally different college experience for us artists. We were given giant studios with endless supplies and tools to create things TOGETHER as a group. We’d often pick up a 6-pack of beer and head into the studios. Some of us would be screen printing, others would be painting, while the rest are building sculptures. It was a beautiful experience of making things in a social setting and supportive community with other artists. It’s something I want everyone to experience, not just those who consider themselves creative.”

In January of 2020, Makers Social officially opened its doors to the public! We’re proud to stand by our mission to provide an environment where our guests can be truly present with one another to laugh together, make stuff, and feel accomplished in their projects.

HOW IT WORKS:

Step 1) Reserve a Spot

Choose a date & time to visit Makers Social (same day reservations are usually OK depending on availability). Be sure to allow yourselves 2-2.5 hours total for the experience. If you do not complete your projects, we’ll provide you with some take-home supplies! Want to reserve the entire space for a private party instead?  Click here to choose a private event package!

Step 2) Grab a Drink (Optional + Encouraged)

Makers Social offers a full service bar loaded with a rare bourbon tasting list and unique cocktails that pair well with power tools. Premium spirits by local Ohio breweries and distilleries such as Watershed, Brewdog, Rhinegeist Watershed Distillery, High Bank Distillery, and more.  We have a full “mocktail” menu for the alcohol-free visitors or for the kids!

Step 3) Pick Your Project

Our project menu has something for every personality type. Upon arrival, guests may choose from our list of 30+ projects ranging from jewelry-making to woodworking, leather pet collars, wallets, and more! All projects are meant for beginners, but some are more tedious than others.

Step 4) Have Fun & Make It

After choosing a project and/or drink from our menus, the helpful Makers staff will provide you with all of the instructions, materials, tools, supplies, and guidance you need.  Grab a seat and get ready to channel your inner Bob Ross or Tim the Tool Man Taylor!
